When To Trim Shrubs and Hedges

Maintenance trimming is best completed as we go though Spring to Summer. It’s usually once a year for informal hedges and twice a year for formal hedges. Some formal hedges may need three cuts a year. The best maintenance trimming is generally carried out between spring and summer. Newer hedge and shrub plantings require trimming to encourage the correct shape of growth to fit the landscape as the plant grows.
